When faced with a complex or unprecedented problem, what is your process for finding clarity?

Observe, Orient, Decide, Act. Knowing how to navigate uncertainty is a distinct skill set. While years of managing high-stakes challenges builds a high tolerance for uncertainty, the reality is that at this level of wealth and complexity, circumstances rarely repeat themselves. Every situation is bespoke. Because we cannot rely on a standard playbook, my focus is on structurally breaking down the complexity, separating the noise from the critical data, and building a customized strategy that moves us forward.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

‘Start before you’re ready.’ In business and in life, it is incredibly easy to wait for perfect information or the ‘perfect time,’ but those rarely arrive. If you wait until you feel entirely ready, you are often too late. Starting before you are ready—committing to a massive goal before you have every single variable mapped out—ensures you are constantly building something you will be proud to look back on decades from now.

What is a book (fiction or non-fiction) that you find yourself recommending to friends and family over and over again?

Essentialism by Greg McKeown. I revisit it annually as a necessary recalibration. Early in my career, my ambition led me to say ‘yes’ to every opportunity I could generate. But I soon realized that making microscopic progress in a thousand different directions ultimately means going nowhere. The book’s core philosophy—’less, but better’—fundamentally shifted my approach to business and leadership. It isn’t simply about doing the opposite and saying ‘no’ to everything; it is a disciplined framework for identifying the highest point of leverage, filtering out the noise, and applying concentrated effort to achieve outsized results.

What is a travel destination that completely changed your perspective or exceeded your expectations?

For our honeymoon, my wife and I embarked on a month-long road trip we dubbed ‘Operation Castles and Whisky.’ Rather than a standard itinerary, we wanted total immersion. We drove across the country, enjoying remote distilleries and exploring centuries-old estates. What completely exceeded my expectations was the sheer scale of the landscape. The rugged terrain offered spectacular hiking and outdoor adventure, perfectly balanced by the deep-rooted history and an incredibly warm culture. It was an unforgettable masterclass trip.

What is something others may be surprised to learn about you?

Throughout my life, I have broken 37 bones. Not all at once, and surprisingly, has nothing to do with my solo skydiving. Throughout my life, I have been deeply involved in high-intensity sports and outdoor adventure, always pushing myself just a little more each time.

If you could have front-row tickets to any event in the world—whether it’s The Masters, opening night at the Met, or a historical concert—where are you going?

An Avicii set, circa 2012. He had a unique ability to think completely outside the box and ignore whatever trends were popular at the time. I have a deep respect for anyone who builds for the long term rather than just the immediate moment.

What is your go-to order at a coffee shop?

It depends on the season, but it is always black. In the summer, a black cold brew, which should never be confused with standard iced coffee. In the winter, either a black drip or a straight espresso.
