When faced with a complex or unprecedented problem, what is your process for finding clarity?

My process begins with a deliberate pause to ensure clarity and avoid reactive decision-making. From there, I break the problem down into manageable components and organize my thoughts—often by outlining key factors or creating a simple pros and cons list. This helps me clarify what I know, identify gaps, and evaluate possible paths forward. I also find value in seeking input from others I trust, whether that’s colleagues, friends, or family. Talking through the situation often brings in perspectives I hadn’t considered and helps me see the situation from different angles. Overall, my process is grounded in reflection, structure, and collaboration, which helps me move from uncertainty to a more informed and confident decision.

What is a book (fiction or non-fiction) that you find yourself recommending to friends and family over and over again?

A series I find myself recommending over and over again is ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ by George R. R. Martin. I’ve always loved fantasy, but this series stands apart because of its high-stakes storytelling and rich character development. It’s also incredibly unpredictable which keeps the reader fully engaged.

What is the most important financial or life lesson you hope to pass down to the next generation?

Challenges and setbacks are inevitable, but our response defines our trajectory. I believe in not giving up when things get difficult, and instead thinking creatively and finding new ways to move forward, even when you feel stuck. I also think it’s important to balance ambition with realism. Dreaming big is incredibly valuable—it gives you direction and motivation—but it’s just as important to set practical, achievable expectations along the way. Ultimately, it is the combination of persistence and adaptability that allows us to navigate forward, even when the path is not immediately clear.

Is there a philanthropic cause, community organization, or passion project you are deeply involved in?

I am a dedicated volunteer and foster for the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. Whether I’m taking shelter dogs on day trips to local trails or fostering kittens at home, I find great fulfillment in providing these animals with the comfort and advocacy they need while they await their forever homes.

If you could have front-row tickets to any event in the world—whether it’s The Masters, opening night at the Met, or a historical concert—where are you going?

Game 7 of the World Series, watching one of my favorite teams—the Washington Nationals or the Baltimore Orioles. I’ve always enjoyed baseball games, and being right there for a championship-deciding game would be an unforgettable experience.

When traveling, are you the ‘color-coded itinerary’ person or the ‘let’s just see where the day takes us’ person?

I am a firm believer in the color-coded itinerary. While I appreciate the idea of spontaneity, I prefer the certainty of a well-researched plan. Especially in an era of timed entries and advance reservations. For me, meticulous planning isn’t about rigidity; it’s about maximizing every opportunity and ensuring no highlight is left to chance

Fun Fact

I love going to baseball games at Nats Park or Camden Yards. I’ve recently gotten into Bananaball (aka Savannah Bananas). My favorite team is the Party Animals. It’s an interesting twist on regular baseball. I also find the organization fascinating, from its fans-first mentality, to its owner Jesse Cole, and everything he’s been able to accomplish in the last 10 years with his organization.
