What is your personal philosophy? Smile and be kind. It cost you nothing to smile and be kind and uplifting to people. That simple gesture and philosophy can actually make someone’s day better. And how nice is it to help people have a better day with kindness and a smile.
Where is your happy place? My happy place is anywhere I can get my husband and three children all together in one place! With two kids on the West coast and one in the Midwest it does not happen often enough, but makes me so happy when it does.
What is your favorite quote and why? Jimmy Dean said, “I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.” My belief is life is full of “surprises” that should detour us. Keep positive and keep working for your dreams and they will become reality.
One day I would really like to take a trip around the world.
My all-time role models are my parents. They migrated to the United States with 2 small children and worked so hard to achieve the American dream. It is inspirational.
In another life, I would probably be an astronaut.

Valerie joined the Acorn family in 2017 as our Operations Specialist.
Valerie comes to us with vast industry experience with specialties in building financial plans and helping clients and advisors transition their accounts to Acorn. She received her Series 7 and 66 licenses in 2015, and her Series 24 license in 2020.
Prior to joining the financial planning industry, Valerie has owned and operated a children’s fitness company that she founded in 2000 after moving to Northern Virginia. In her spare time, Valerie loves to cook and travel with her husband and three children.
